Pohnpei, the capital of Micronesia, is called the Garden Island because everything is lush and green. A high, volcanic island with a 129 sq mi. area, and an elevation of 2,200 feet, Pohnpei island plus eight outer islands constitute the state of Pohnpei.

Pohnpei: 2,500 miles from Honolulu and 850 miles from Guam. A Continental 737 jet lands seven times a week.

Although famous for its eco-tourism, Pohnpei is especially popular with those who don't like a place that's over-run with divers and tourists.

Kolonia is the main town on Pohnpei. Here is where shoppers buy handicraft in Porakiet (Kapinga village) and along main street, and custom jewelry at the Village.

For those who prefer quiet to the hustle and bustle of Kolonia, the Village is your kind of place. The five mile drive takes only about 15 minutes.

Ant (Ahnd) atoll is well worth a visit. A beautiful atoll, it is covered in coconut trees and white sand beaches and ringed with small islands.
