Whatever you do, don’t miss the trip to Nan Madol.
And the diving is breathtaking!
Ant is what a tropical island is
supposed to look like.
There’s a lot to do on Pohnpei.
Just ask.

The mystery of Nan Madol is how those logs were transported - and why was a city built on the reef?

Part of the Nan Madol trip is a short walk to Keperhoi. After swimming in the pool you’ll find that your cares have been washed away - almost by magic.

On the Nan Madol trip, lunch is in coolers in the boat, and is eaten on a sandy beach. Although the snorkeling is usually good, there’s always someone who’d rather take a nap under a tree.

Ant Atoll, a distant island, with white sand beaches and coconut trees, offers some of the best diving anywhere.
They also offer a trip to Ant Atoll by boat that takes around 1 1/2 hours. The beach on Ant is just amazing and perfectly represents the island dream; white sand, blue water and lots of coconut trees. Fabiano & Katja

If you’re into surfing, the “perfect” wave comes from storm swells in Siberia and Alaska and lasts from October until May. Check out the Pohnpei Surf Club.

A Sokehs Rock climb requires a guide plus the ability to climb a tree along the way. A cable guard goes up the rock itself and will help in the climb.

A hike to the top of Sokehs Ridge, to see the Japanese guns and other war relics, is done at any time starting from the Sokehs Municipal Office. A guide is not necessary as the road is quite clear. Steep, but clear.

Sakau is the traditional drink, and used in every island ceremony. It’s made by pounding the sakau roots on a flat rock, and straining the juice through hibicus bark. Guests are welcome to try some. Sakau is available as pounded or can be ordered in recycled glass bottles.

A Village bus goes to Kolonia each morning except Sunday. Guests are invited to hop on the shuttle at 9:30.

There are several small planes on Pohnpei. Contact the Village for flight availability.

Outer island trips are on a vessel with a very unreliable schedule.
Although only recommended for those who can put up with an occasional hardship, they can be a once-in-a-lifetime sort of thing.

When driving on the south side of the island, stop and see the dappled sunlight and the birds flying through the tall stately mangrove stands.
Because the leaf canopy is above 40 feet, for a sapling to live, it has to grow that much in one season. A very impressive sight.
I would recommend not just Pohnpei but in particular the Village Hotel to anyone who is looking for a lovely relaxing location for their honeymoon or vacation. James Atwell

A kayak trip through Nan Madol or a mangrove channel is something you have to experience - it can’t be described well. The quiet is overwhelming, the natural beauty is everywhere. The natural world is all around you.

Because different kinds of fishing are offered, we may not have the gear you need. It’s safer to bring everything you want. That includes your favorite plugs and poppers, rods and reels.
The most popular style is trolling a fishing line in the ocean by hand. After getting a strike, the fish needs to be pulled in quickly so you don’t lose part of the catch to a cruising shark.
A boat and a experienced fishing guide are used for surf casting in the reef passes.
While on Pohnpei I stayed at the Steep, but clear. Village. The service and the atmosphere were outstanding. My guide was very knowledgeable and got me into all kinds of fish. I would recommend highly the fishing services at the Village. Ron Isom

You’ll be guided to where you can see the unique and interesting birds of Pohnpei. Several birds, thought to be extinct, have been seen.

A vehicle and well versed guide are used to see places of interest around the island.

Pohnpei is a handicraft kind of place. In Kapinga village, the men carve ivory-nuts and mangrove wood; the women weave intricate wall hangings.
Ponape Pedlar, at the Village, makes one-of-a-kind necklaces from local materials.

A wedding in the gazebo is a joyous occasion for everyone. The whole crew adorns the bridge railings with fresh flowers and green coconut fronds are wrapped around Long House poles.
