There are no seasons in Micronesia; it's summer all year round. Air temperatures range from 75F to 90F (24C to 32C); water temperatures are always about 82F.
The last three months of the year have the least visitors, but some of the best weather. The trade winds begin in late November or early December, and last until May.
In the last quarter, the tides are higher and there is less wind, so kayaking through Nan Madol and other mangrove channels is easier. Bring reef walkers or old tennis shoes for Nan Madol and waterfall trips, or for hiking in the jungle.
Pohnpei is very near the equator, and the tropical sun can cause a bad sunburn. A Waterproof SPF 15, or higher, (available at theVillage) is recommended.
The currency in Micronesia is the US dollar. There is only one ATM machine on ithe sland. Credit cards are accepted at the Village.
Rental cars are about $45-$50 US per day, insurance extra. Taxi fare to and from Kolonia is currently about $4.00 one way per person.
A dive certificate is required. Rental gear is available at the Village. Dive suits are unnecessary.
Your lap-top computer is welcome, and the WiFi is free. A Mac computer is available in the office. Telephone and fax services are at the front desk. Only GSM-900 cell phones work on the island, and rental cell phones are available at FSM TeleCom. For more info, ask at the desk.
The gift shop is behind the front desk and sells t-shirts, medicines and handmade jewelry.
Carry-on luggage should contain what you will need if your bags are misplaced.
Although Pohnpeian is the local language, English is understood and spoken by almost everyone.
Laundry that is brought to the front desk in the morning, will be washed, folded, and on your bed in the afternoon.
Electricity is 120 volts, 60 herz. Cameras, lights, and computers can be charged in the room.
There are NO SNAKES on Pohnpei.
Tipping is not expected, however, if the service is excellent, it's always welcome.

Geckos and spiders in the bungalows may be scary at first, but they eat the roaches and mosquitos and are very harmless.
Ask about required travel documents when you purchase your ticket. Make sure you know the passport regulations.
